How It All Began

In 2009, in a small New Zealand community, a young carer stood in a school hall watching children arrive with empty lunchboxes, tired eyes, and no sense of routine or stability. At the same time, at home, she was caring for her profoundly deaf, non‑verbal brother — navigating systems that were never designed for families like hers. Those two worlds collided into one realisation: children thrive when the basics are consistent, simple, and human. Food. Movement. Hygiene. Sleep. Connection. The fundamentals that shape health, behaviour, and opportunity. Working across schools, communities, and public health, she began building small, practical systems to help children develop routines they could actually stick to. These early prototypes became the first version of what would later evolve into the Rule_of 5™, the 5+5 a Day™ model, and the wider Adifive™ ecosystem. What started as a local solution grew into a movement — a way of helping children, families, and communities build healthier habits without shame, overwhelm, or complexity. Every element of the ecosystem still traces back to those early days in New Zealand: real children, real barriers, real change. Today, Adifive remains rooted in that same purpose — creating simple, sustainable systems that help people live better, one small daily action at a time.

Adifive™ is a global wellbeing ecosystem built to change the way communities think about health, nutrition, and daily habits. Rooted in public health, behaviour change, and real-world frontline experience, Adifive brings together three connected frameworks: 5+5 a Day™ UK & NZ, The Rule_of 5™ UK & NZ, and Rule_of 5 Kids™ UK & NZ. 5+5 a Day™ UK & NZ provides a simple, modern approach to daily nourishment and wellbeing — a refreshed narrative for today’s families, workplaces, and communities. The Rule_of 5™ UK & NZ offers a clear, practical structure for adults to build healthier routines across movement, mindset, nutrition, connection, and rest. Rule_of 5 Kids™ UK & NZ adapts these principles for children in a safe, age-appropriate, playful format designed for homes, schools, and community settings across the UK and New Zealand. Together, these frameworks form a unified mission: to make healthy living accessible, achievable, and culturally relevant for every family. This year, Adifive is launching The Kit Bag Project, a community-led initiative providing food parcels to children during school holidays. One Print = One Child Nourished — every sponsored print directly supports a child with essential nutrition when school meals stop. Adifive™ is more than a programme. It’s a movement, a partnership model, and a new public health narrative designed to scale across countries, cultures, and communities.
